Following in the footsteps of pirates
The route starts at the Playa de Benijo, a solitary beach located on the north of the Island. Benijo is a wild beach where you will enjoy of the seashore impressive rocks formations, the volcanic black sand, the big waves, and beautiful sunsets…… you will have a great feeling of ocean and its power in Benijo.
This route follows a path that connected in the past the most important plantations in the Anaga area. On the route you will enjoy of the beautiful landscapes. There was plenty of water and springs on the area, which explains why there where so many plantations in such a small place. The area also enjoys of a mild weather most of the year.
The area was inhabited since the pre-hispanic times. It was a place where the “Guanches” (name of the people living in Tenerife before the island was conquer) used to live long periods of time, enjoying of the abundance of water and springs that were all over the valley.
